The Movement

The Existential Movement exists to reduce interpersonal conflict and psychological suffering and to enhance well-being in the community. In a society often characterised by routine and conformity, existentialism encourages individuals to confront the complexities of their existence, fostering self-awareness and authenticity. By delving into existential themes, individuals can navigate the challenges of life with a heightened sense of purpose, recognising the transformative power of choice and personal responsibility. In essence, the existential movement matters as it provides a philosophical framework that empowers individuals to shape their own narratives and find meaning in the often ambiguous and unpredictable nature of human existence.

I am pleased to be associated with an organisation like the Existential Movement at times like these because it offers the very real possibility of getting the everyday meaning of existential ideas more widely known and understood.

Rimas Kočiūnas

I believe this project is indeed meaningful in that it would be helping existential ideas to get out of offices of psychotherapists and our professional gatherings and into wider public space. It might be a way for these ideas to gain not just therapeutic, but also social and political voice. This is especially topical in current troubled times, when some colleagues, e.g., in Russia, call for political neutrality, which sounds more than strange within the context of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

I am happy to be associated with the existential movement, at time like this, when our society experiences global challenges. The existential approach, as I view it, can offer a wider existential understanding, connectedness and meaning to all of us.

Dmitry Leontiev

I am happy to be a part of this new movement. Existentialist mindset is the one badly needed for the new world emerging in the 21st century. It teaches us to make meaningful use of our freedom and responsibility potentials and reveals their value in our days.

The Existential Movement is well needed in order to take an important step to contribute with existential perspectives and experiences in different contexts in society. I welcome this initiative and will take part according to my ability, my competence, and my experience.

Semyon Yesselson

I'm glad to join the Existential Movement initiative because I believe that the existential worldview represents an alternative to the conceptual foundations of the technical and technological civilization.

Alfried Längle

Existential thinking, feeling, and living is by itself an inner and outer movement – it has this mindful power inherent. What we are going to do is to help to disclose this on a broad scale so that many more people become aware of their great existential potential: open encounter, trial to understand oneself and the other, and inner and outer dialogues confronting both sides with respect to endorse supportive communities and personal growth.

Jak Icoz

I'm looking forward to seeing all the possibilities we can unlock as we come together in the Existential Movement. It was about time that we leave our consulting rooms to seek further fields of application for the wisdom of existential thought.

Peter Donders

The world is in need for a deeper awareness of the existential givens that each human being shares with all other human beings.

I am convinced that working actively to increase this awareness is a necessary and appropriate response in these times of polarization and confusion. Bringing philosophy to the community will remind us that what have in common with each and every other person, outweighs that which divides us from each other. We need to refocus on our shared humanity.

For this reason, I support the Existential Movement.
